Position Description:
The role involves providing M&E design support to project leaders and carrying out site commissioning on low voltage electrical systems including process automation and instrumentation. Liaising and overseeing suppliers and subcontractors on site based activity is also a key aspect of the role.
A sound knowledge of automated systems would be desirable although not essential as training will be provided to the right candidate.
You may already hold City & Guilds 2391 inspection and testing and be comfortable with design, construction and commissioning stages of a project, or perhaps you’ve got hands on low voltage experience or have completed a time served apprenticeship. Whatever stage you’re at, we’re prepared to invest in any training needed by the right person.
More importantly than experience, the role demands a team player who has the ability to work independently. You will also need excellent communication skills, a full driving licence and the enthusiasm and positive attitude required to fit in to the aforementioned company.

Overall purpose of role: To provide M&E design support to project leaders and to carry out site commissioning on low voltage automated process systems.
Key outputs for role:
1. Problem Feasibility
2. Problem Definition / Design input
3. Confirmation and approval of subcontractor drawings and designs
4. Liaison with subcontractors and suppliers
5. Overseeing suppliers and subcontractors on site based activity
6. Assistance with production of estimates and costs
7. Preparation of completion docs e.g. O&M Manuals
8. Undertaking site based commissioning

Expertise in Role Required (at time of joining): Essential or Desirable
• Educated to HNC/HND Degree level in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or with equivalent industrial experience - D
• Has an awareness of clean and / or wastewater process mechanical equipment including pump design, selection and operation - D
• Has gained experience of hydraulics / fluid dynamics - D
• Sufficiently competent and experienced to be electrically authorised by Yorkshire Water quickly - D
• Is familiar with industrial automation control, instrumentation and telemetry systems - D
• Is up-to-date with Energy saving techniques and practices in-particular with respect to rotating electrical machines - D
• Has gained a professional qualification or is working towards professional membership of The IET or IMechE - D
• Holds C&G 2391 inspection and testing of electrical installations - D
• Has an awareness of Hazardous Area applications, zoning and types of protection - D
• Keen eye for detail - E
• Low voltage experience in process / water industry - D
• Team player - E
• Excellent communication skills - E
• Comfortable with design and construction stages - E
• Experience of dealing with client / 3rd parties - D
