Position Description:
A position has opened up for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at one of the UK’s leading building services consultants. You would be working generally on new-build and refurbishment office projects as well as new-build and refurbishment retail developments, as well as a number of office park/retail park developments, schools/colleges, hotels, Laboratories, infrastructure projects, etc, throughout the North of England.
Qualifications: Minimum – HNC
Preferred – Degree, MCIBSE
Experience:
• Similar position within a Building Services Consultancy with a minimum of 4 years experience.
• Candidate to be commercially minded, smart appearance and a good communicator, capable of representing the practice in Client and Design Team Meetings.
• Experience in the commercial, office, retail, education, laboratory, health, residential, mixed use and infrastructure sectors would be required.
• Experience of air conditioning design is essential, together with knowledge of latest Energy Efficient systems to comply with latest Building Regulations and Environmentally Friendly Legislation.
• Candidate should be used to working to meet tight deadlines for production of information and an organised approach to planning of work load to achieve programme dates is essential.
• The ability to work as a team player both within the practice and within the design team is essential.
• Experience in the use of HevaComp and Microsoft Office suite of programs.
• Commercial awareness and the need to design systems to meet budget constraints and the ability to produce budget cost estimates for mechanical services installations is an essential requirement of the candidate.
• The candidate will be capable of carrying out surveys of existing buildings and producing reports on the condition, suitability and adequacy of existing services installations, together with recommendations and budget costs for any remedial works required.
