Position Description:
Our client has an annual turnover in the region of £30m.Their turnover consists of civil engineering works including roads and sewers infrastructure, water authority works, housing and commercial development ground works together with contracts for the highway and rail industries, with project values from £50k to £10million.
We have been asked to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for their site in the Yorkshire area working on for one their leading clients.
Key Tasks:
Managing costs on a wide variety of new building projects and structures, such as residential developments, sports stadiums, roads and bridges, schools, hospitals, offices and factories;
Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work;
Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;
Preparing early stage budgets and detailed cost plans;
Performing risk and value management and cost control;
Advising on procurement strategy;
Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities;
Identifying, analyzing and developing responses to commercial risks;
Preparing and analyzing costings for tenders;
Establishing and operating cost and financial control systems;
Allocating work to subcontractors;
Negotiating to ensure budgets are not exceeded;
Providing advice on contractual claims;
Analyzing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
Valuing completed work and arranging payments;
Developing knowledge relevant to contract conditions and their applications;
Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;
Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
