Position Description:
Our client is a leading, privately owned construction services provider with annual turnover now in excess of £100 million, generated from projects in both the building and civil engineering markets.

We have been asked to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for their site in the Swindon area working on a new scheme for one their leading clients.

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policies and report any standards on the site which are considered by you as inadequate. • Supervise chainman and / or trainee engineer / surveyor.
• Ensure that sufficient and full information is available on drawings and sketches to set out the works in accordance with the programme and sequence of operations.
• Communicate with foremen and gangers to ensure full understanding of information provided. • Provide accurate and clear setting out for works, before work is programmed to commence. Allowing time for independent checking where required.
• Confirm in writing, on the same day, any verbal instructions received from the client / designer / RE’s staff.
• Check the works during progress and on completion to ensure that the works has been constructed to the setting-out information provides. Report any non-conformance to the section engineer / sub-agent / senior surveyor.
• Ensure that comprehensive records of all resources employed on additional works are maintained and submitted for signature within 24 hrs of work being carried out.
• Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes / variations, subcontractor’s attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / RE / project team.
• Carry out site surveys for volume, design and record purposes.
• Carry out the duties of equipment engineers and maintain a log of all equipment on site, ensuring that all transfers/off hire are properly documented.
• Carry out independent setting out checks.
• Establish bench marks and control markers as directed for setting out and survey purposes.
• Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
