Position Description:
Our client is a leading, privately owned construction services provider with annual turnover now in excess of £100 million, generated from projects in both the building and civil engineering markets.
We have been asked to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for their site in the Liverpool area working on a new scheme for one their leading clients.
The successful candidate will be required to:
• Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy and participate fully in the “Don’t Walk By” initiative.
• Maintain effective communication with contract managers, project management, managing / project QS and other associated disciplines.
• Assist in staff matters which may include: recruitment, attitude and behavioral issues, competency, retainment and staff allocation to meet a project’s need.
• Manage, supervise, mentor and train your “reports” within the commercial structure.
• Carry out staff performance and development reviews and assist in the management of the commercial training programme.
• Provide and control strategy of commercial contacts with client’s representatives.
• Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
• Commercial management of subcontractors including processing payments and resolving disputed issues by negotiation, if appropriate.
• Provide input to risk profiling and general management on projects.
• Monitor the timely production of reliable cost reports and QF’s.
• Produce and present monthly / quarterly reports including cash flow information.
• Initiate discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
• Input into drafting and promote usage of Company procedures.
• Supervise change management including adherence to the programme ‘established approach’.
• Ensure timely production of adequate levels of applications for payments in accordance with the provisions of the conditions of contract.
• Provide commercial advice to the site team, and management of all contractual issues.
• Attend and provide input to project start-up and close-out meetings.
• Produce and negotiate insurance claims with insurer’s representatives.
• Manage time and workloads for yourself and the commercial team in a structured manner.
• Assist to deliver commercial training to all site staff.
• Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
