Position Description:
Our client is a leading, privately owned construction services provider with annual turnover now in excess of £100 million, generated from projects in both the building and civil engineering markets.
We have been asked to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for their site in the Swindon area working on a new Rail Framework scheme for one their leading clients.
The successful candidate will be required to:
• Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy.
• Maintain effective communication with project management and / or managing / project / senior QS and other associated disciplines.
• Assist in staff matters which may include: attitude and behavioral issues, competency and retainment.
• Manage, supervise and mentor your “reports” within the commercial structure.
• Provide input to junior commercial staff performance and development, including reviews.
• Provide commercial input to contacts with client’s representatives.
• Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through contract vetting and input to subcontract documents.
• Commercial management of subcontractors including processing payments and inputting into dispute resolution.
• Monitor cost of site resources.
• Produce monthly cost and value reports, quarterly reports and cash flow information and present to senior management.
• Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy.
• Promote usage of Company procedures and suggest improvements to site procedures.
• Deal with change management including adherence to the programme ‘established approach’.
• Ensure timely production and presentation of adequate levels of applications for payments in accordance with the provision of the conditions of contract.
• Provide commercial advice to the site team in connection with all project issues.
• Attend and provide input to project start-up and close-out meetings.
• Assist with the production of insurance claims.
• Manage time and workloads for yourself and any “reports” in a structured manner.
• Provide input to risk profiling and management on projects.
• Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.
