Position Description:
Support the Senior Operations Director in promoting a positive safety culture in managing health, safety, and environment activities in Projects and ensure that all subcontracts and tenders have adequate allowances for appropriate HS&E provisions.

Support the Senior Operations Director and Senior Operations Manager in building and operating a first-class business unit to achieve the company objectives for the designated area of the business.
Requirements:
Experience relevant to the estimating and surveying of multi-discipline projects.

Extensive knowledge of the building industry and construction techniques.

To provide commercial input and quantity surveying services to support challenging work volumes in a repairs and maintenance environment.

Experience of estimating and Quantity Surveying including various forms of construction and repairs and maintenance contracts and their effects on projects.

Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and best practice.

Responsibilities:
Contribute to the establishment of robust Commercial and Estimating procedures and ensure that they are followed.

Prepare tenders / budgets and where appropriate assist in the preparation of those tenders being lead by others.

Ensure that Commercial Risks presented by individual tenders are identified and ensure that mitigation measures are addressed within the tender submission.

Support the Operations managers through the job ticketing process to enable income to be claimed, also manage the WIP process agreeing and monitoring targets

Assist the Managing Surveyor and relevant Senior / Project Managers in the formulation of tender strategies relating to the commercial activities of the business.

Monitor and have a detailed knowledge of a SOR system, having the ability to create and agree new codes with the client and relevant bodies.

Liaise closely with and support the procurement function of tender performance and local sub-contractors

Provide commercial expertise on projects by undertaking the submission of Interim Valuations, Final Accounts and claims together with contractual advice for projects under your own control.

Ensure that subcontract payments are made timely.

Assist the Managing surveyor to ensure the timely delivery of tender and project information / reporting and forecasting on budgets.

Ensure that tenders are progressed in line with Company procedures including the preparation of necessary forms and providing the relevant records to support audit.

Establish strong and co-operative links with Hull CC, and other Clients / consultants.

Support the Managing Surveyor in negotiation of future projects where he is managing the detailed tender preparation.

Ensure that contract documents reflect what has been agreed at tender stage and prepare them for Board signatures.

Skills and Knowledge required:
Membership of or working towards a relevant professional qualification, chartered status preferred.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Proven leadership skills.

People skills to achieve the best out of staff and customers.

IS / IT skills.

Demonstrate high standards of integrity.
