Position Description:
Our Client is a privately owned award winning Construction, Property Development and Consultancy Group with an annual turnover in excess of £260m. The business currently works in the Warehousing & Distribution, Retail, Offices, Food Processing and Healthcare sectors with individual projects ranging in value up to £40m. A good proportion of this work is carried out on a Design and Build basis.
Due to an increase in contracts they are now looking to appoint a Pre-Contract Manager, responsible for cost planning. The successful candidate will work closely with both our Property Development and Design teams from early scheme feasibility stages through to successful contract award. The provision of accurate and reliable cost information to establish and verify construction costs of potential projects forms an essential part of this role. The successful applicant will also assist the Cost Planning Director in developing and maintaining a computerised cost planning and budget estimating system to help maintain benchmark costs and rates for use on subsequent projects.
The ideal candidate will have an appropriate academic, trade or consultancy background and a proven track record. You must be able to communicate at all levels and establish effective relationships with Customers, Consultants and Suppliers that enhance the Company’s name and reputation.
Duties include:
Responsible for “Top Down” cost planning (progressively) from initial feasibility studies to detailed cost plans for all projects procured through the Simons Developments Key Account
Carrying out cost analysis and the collation of data to assist the accuracy of cost planning.
Monitor related bid and cost planning spend against established budget estimates at agreed intervals.
Continuously seek to improve the quality and consistency of cost planning within the Team, Division and Company.
Represent the Company by dealing with Customers, Consultants and Suppliers in a professional manner that enhances its reputation.
Promote excellence in Health & Safety throughout the cost planning function.
Ensure this cost planning function is carried out in accordance with the Company Policies and Procedures.
