Linear Contact:	One of the success stories in the local market over the last few years, a privately owned Leeds based D&B contractor who have doubled turnover in the last 5 years and are looking to continue that growth over the next few years are looking to extend their design department. The business has been built on winning repeat work with client – predominantly in the commercial and industrial sectors but they’ve also done football grounds, education, leisure etc and its mostly locally based work – North of England. The current management team/directors are all very hands on – they deal with clients face to face and don’t have a reputation for sitting in the ivory tower/playing golf. They pride themselves on a very down to earth, straight talking culture that their clients like and they are looking for adaptable people to fit into this department. The Drawing office team currently consists of 4 people and they are a very efficient team - but currently they are missing some skills. Currently the Technical Director is spending a lot of time in the office working with this team and he is looking for 2 people to compliment this team and add to their current skill set.
Description Technical Manager To provide the missing link between the design team, the contractor’s site team and the subbies making sure that everything is going to plan from a design perspective and managing the process from design through to project completion. The main function of the role will be to enable clearer communication between those teams. You will also assume a senior role in the office, taking responsibility, being a point of contact for technical questions, educating more junior members of staff and implementing new systems. The ideal candidate will have an Architectural background having spent time working for a practice in a design orientated role and will now be keen to utilise their current skills in a new, challenging environment. Design Manager A separate role but with similar attributes this individual will become the right hand man to the current technical director. The main function of your role will be to add design flair and an injection of ideas into what is a very strong and sound technical team. You will also assume some responsibility for managing & organising the team. The projects they currently do are not earth shattering in terms of design but they hope to find a thinker who has the ability to add integrity into the designs. You will be at Project Leader level and have a proven background of success in this field. As this is a new position the full job spec is still flexible to a point – they are looking forward to discussing exactly how the role will function at interview.
