My Client prides itself on providing professional 'in-house' Pre-construction Logistical (and cost) Planning services to some of the highest profile (and complex) projects in the UK.
They have worked at all levels including Local Authorities, Government Depts, Developers and Main Contractors. My Client continues to provide new and innovative products and solutions to the construction industry.

They are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in this role.
As a Project Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for managing costs relating to building and logistics contracts on various projects. This can be from the initial enquiry to the final account. You should seek to enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. You will need to be familiar with the processes of estimating and tendering, preparation and submissions of applications and subcontractor cost value reconciliation (CVR). Traveling to various sites within the UK is an integral part of the role which includes reporting to the Commercial Manager at the Group's Head Office in London attend staff meeting in London.

Essential Person Specification:
• It is essential that you are self-motivated with the desire to develop a career in a progressive Company, Good negotiation and communication skills
• Experience in working in a construction environment
• Comfortable with networking at all levels and in all professional situations
• Experienced in budget monitoring and implementing cost saving measures for clients and the Company
• Experienced in dealing with a range of customers and contractual arrangements
• An excellent communicator (both orally and in writing) and presenter of themselves, their department, Company and its services
• An organised, effective time manager, able to deliver work on time and of a consistently high standard
• Ability to prioritise, manage and complete tasks,
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with general IT knowledge
• Analytical, with the ability to research, read, and summarise relevant matters.
• Experience of setting up systems and procedures
• Trustworthy and able to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information
• Ability to work under pressure and manage a variety of tasks
• Self-motivated and able to motivate others
• Able to work independently, on own initiative as well as part of a team and be proactive
• Willing to learn new skills and embark on ongoing training to develop current skills

It would be an advantage to have the following:
• Has own transport and UK driving licence
• Currently have or working towards an RICS or CIOB accredited course for surveyors or equivalent.
• Has experience of negotiating contract terms with clients and contractors


Duties:
• Hours: 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday
• Reporting to: Commercial Manager
• Managing costs on a variety of building projects, which will be assigned to you by your line manager
• Undertaking costs analysis for construction and logistics work
• Assisting in building relationships with clients
• Undertaking risk analysis and feasibility studies
• Assisting with the preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
• Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
• Assisting with preparing and analysing costings for tenders
• Placing of subcontractor orders, with approval of your line manager
• Production of financial reports ( cost value reconciliation)
• Valuing completed work and processing payments for supply chain
• Knowledge of standard building contracts
• Understanding the implications of health and safety requirements
• Attending team meetings and working to achieving collective targets and goals where required
• Carrying out any administrative duties relating to your work
• Liaising with clients and consultants at all levels ensuring that you represent the
• Company in a professional manner at all times
• Able and willing to travel to projects on sites when required
• Ensuring you remain updated as to any commercial, legal or educational progresses or changes that may affect your role as a QS and to report these changes or influences to your line manager.
• Working with Contract and Site Managers to ensure that staffing hours are correctly monitored and recorded
• Carrying out any other reasonable duty/task needed for the proper execution of your role and the needs of the Company as and when requested by your line manager
