Design Engineer

£30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Job Description

Our client, a leading regional civil infrastructure and engineering main contractor, is looking to employ a Design Engineer on a permanent basis to provide and modify design for construction teams, contractors, and the client, research and develop insight to drive solutions, implement innovative ways of working, consider pre-construction information to eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks, take steps to reduce or control any risks that cannot be eliminated, to understand issues in the water sector asset base and deliver industry-leading solutions.

The right candidate would need demonstrable experience of the responsibilities below.
• Undertake problem research and definition including navigating, collecting, and interpreting information relevant to projects and design problems
• Organise testing and surveys when required
• Work with the team to find effective, simple, safe, and efficient solutions to clearly defined problems
• Organise, chair and minute design reviews and progress meetings
• Create and contribute to relevant Design documents including P&ID, GA’s, Layouts, Specifications, and schedules
• Add to the library of understanding of problems and solutions
• Bring innovations into the assets base

The Person:
• Professional experience as a Designer in the construction industry.
• A degree in a relevant technical field.
• A member of a relevant professional body.
• Confident in researching issues and creatively solving problems, you’ll be able to produce clear design documents underpinned by sound applied mathematics.

Minimum Experience Needed:
• Experience as a Designer or Design Engineer, mainly in the construction industry.
• Professional experience working in the water industry.
• A willingness to travel to multiple sites over the Anglian Water area / East of England.
• A member of a relevant professional body.
• Experience researching issues, creatively solving problems and producing design documents.
• Experience applying mathematics or engineering principles in a professional capacity.
• I.T literate including Microsoft Suite

Qualifications Needed:
• A degree in a relevant technical field.

Training required:
• Full, valid UK driving licence

If rate of pay is a sliding scale what is needed to get to the top amount:
• Further experience as a as a Designer or Design Engineer, mainly in the water industry.
• Further relevant qualifications relating to water industry construction design.
• Further significant demonstratable experience with all points outlined in the job description and minimum experience section.

The salary banding is indicative and dependent on experience. Details on the full package are to be discussed during shortlisting.
