Linear Recruitment's 2023 Chartity Cycle has been completed

In September we undertook our 2023 charity cycle ride with the goal to be to cycle the distance from John O'Groats to Land's End on indoor spinning bikes across our offices - a total distance of 1000 miles. This was all in aid of our two nominated charities; Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care and TOFS.

Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care provide a free transport service to and from the Freeman/RVI Hospitals in Newcastle for outpatients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy treatment – some from as far afield as the Scottish Borders, North Yorkshire and West Cumbria. We've got personal experience of the service they offer, and we'd love to raise lots for them.

TOFS offers support to people born with Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF) and/or Oesophageal Atresia (OA). These are rare congenital malformaltions of the gullet and windpipe. Immediate neonatal surgery is a treatment, not a complete cure. We are UK-based and receive no public-sector support at all. Linear's Elliot Birtwistle has a child affected by the condition, and has had lots of support from this amazing charity.

With prizes being awarded the person cycling the most miles, and the office with the highest number of miles, the stakes were high, and the competition really fired up. In fact it became clear after day 2 that we had to increase the miles, so we doubled it - with the aim of cycling to Land's End and then back up again to John O'Groats, covering a total distance of 2000 miles.

And we smashed it! A huge congratulations goes to Grant Patterson who clocked up the most miles, cycling 315 miles across the week and breaking the offices down; Newcastle cycled 885 miles, Sheffield 1017 miles and Manchester 100.4 miles.

We managed to raise £1943 for the two charities as well, and we're absolutely over the moon. Thanks to every single person who donated, we appreciate every pound given.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone involved. We're looking forward to planning our 2024 charity event now.
