Meet Dean….Dean is one half of Team Linear gearing up for Linear’s mammoth charity cycle ride kicking off on May 12th.

Dean is trying to raise money for the brilliant work and support that our two chosen charities do, The Sheffield Childrens Hospital and the Weston Park Hospital. The latter is particularly close to his heart, for all the work they do for those living with cancer. Dean’s sister Helen, who is now 45, was diagnosed with Breast cancer nearly 2 years ago. After initially responding well to chemotherapy they found out that in fact the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and into her liver. The treatment she has had since then is to prolong her life and will not be a cure.

Cancer doesn’t discriminate and has taken hold of his sister who has never smoked a single cigarette, always eaten healthily and was at the gym 3 times a week.

Training is going well and Dean is doing around 4-5 hours a week (120-130 miles) on the turbo trainer. As well as that both Dean and Adam regularly do 50 mile rides on a Saturday morning and Dean also tries to get out on the mountain bike on a Sunday too. They are nearly ready and the miles/hours they are putting in should see them through the ride.

There is lots of excitement about the ride and although it’s going to be massively challenging, hopefully we can send lots of encouragement and support to them both! And anyone is welcome to join in along the way!
