We're delighted to welcome a new Construction team member in our Sheffied office. Nathan Shipsides joined the Linear team in June this year, and comes with a wealth of experience in recruitment. His role at Linear will be spearheading our White Collar Freelance desk across Yorkshire and the North Midlands.

Tell us a bit about yourself
I have recently (ish) moved to Sheffield, and love spending time with family and friends. I have worked in recruitment since leaving university.

How are you finding working for Linear?

It has been a good introduction to the company. Everyone has been very welcoming and it’s been good working with some very experienced consultants.

What does your role at Linear involve?

My role as a Consultant at Linear is to have involvement in the full 360 process. This includes contacting prospective clients to gain new business, agreeing rates, resourcing the correct candidate for the role and liaising with both parties to ensure a smooth onboarding process. Additionally, staying in regular contact with clients and candidates post placement to make sure they are satisfied and resolve any potential issues.

What words would you use to describe Linear?

Welcoming. Driven.

You used to work in a different sector in recruitment, how are you finding the move to the construction sector?

Moving into construction, specifically working on white collar freelance roles, has been a big change. The detail of each role is far greater than what I have done previously, however the vast majority of people I have interacted with are down to earth, hardworking people which has been very positive.

Why recruitment? What do you like about it?

Recruitment as a whole can be very emotive, there are a lot of highs and lows so it keeps the days interesting. The biggest thing I enjoy about working in recruitment though is the insights I get into other sectors that I would normally never have any idea about.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I am a big rugby fan and have always supported Leicester Tigers so I love going to games at the weekend.

What 3 items would you take to a desert island?

Sleeping bag, a bow and an arrow.
